When configuring FF, it would be useful if variables like %AppData% (usually
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data) were available. I tried
using it when setting browser.cache.disk.parent_directory, but this didn't work.

Then this profile would not be portable across different OS'es. Bug 12911 talked
a lot about this issue. The pathnames can now relative to the profile location.
Absolute paths can still be used though (so, making the profile non-portable),
so maybe we should allow environment variables.
